State your name and tell us where you’re from.
Danielle Top. I’m Dutch Australian.
Give the readers a brief timeline of the events leading up to you deciding to start your own magazine.
I was always obsessed with magazines, models, music, fashion and art. I worked at V Magazine but in 2009 when work dried up, I thought why not.
What’s the process, if any, for choosing your subject matter?
Intuition.
At a time when print is supposedly dying as a result of the economy and new technology etc. Was the decision to make TOP a free magazine the only option?
No, sometimes I think distribution would be easier if I put a price on TOP. But I want TOP to be accessible.
Is it safe to say your publication has gotten more official with each issue/release? By that I mean in content, layout, ads etc. if so, why?
I guess so. I like seeing the progress.
Give me your top 5 favorite bands/artists right now?
Youthfall, Maia Ruth Lee, Jeanette Hayes, Eric Elms, Joseph Nigoghossian.
What can we expect from TOP in the upcoming future?
More features, more issues.
